Thread Lift — Physical Lift Without Surgery
A thread lift physically repositions sagging tissue using biocompatible threads inserted under the skin. It's the closest non-surgical treatment to an actual facelift.
Consult Dr. AnkitaWhat Thread Lift Does
Thread lift inserts barbed, dissolving threads (PDO — polydioxanone, or PLLA — poly-L-lactic acid) under the skin using a cannula. The barbs anchor into the tissue, and when tension is applied, skin is physically lifted and repositioned. Over the following months, the threads dissolve while stimulating collagen production along their path — creating a scaffolding of new collagen that maintains the lift even after the threads are gone.
It's not a facelift. A facelift removes excess skin and tightens deeper layers (SMAS). Thread lift repositions tissue WITHOUT removing skin. This makes it less dramatic but also less invasive — no general anesthesia, no scars, no 2-week recovery.
Treatment Areas
| Area | What It Improves | Threads Used |
|---|---|---|
| Mid-face / cheeks | Lifts descended cheek tissue, softens nasolabial folds | 4-6 threads per side |
| Jawline | Defines jawline, reduces jowling | 3-4 threads per side |
| Brow | Subtle brow lift, opens eye area | 2-3 threads per side |
| Neck | Tightens neck skin, reduces banding | 4-6 threads |
The Procedure
- Duration: 45-60 minutes
- Anesthesia: Local anesthetic only
- Method: Small entry points made with needle, threads inserted via cannula, positioned, tensioned, trimmed
- Downtime: 3-5 days of mild swelling and soreness. 7-10 days for full recovery. Most patients return to work at day 3-4.
- Results: Immediate visible lift + progressive improvement over 3-6 months as collagen forms
- Duration: 12-18 months (threads dissolve at 6-8 months, collagen effect persists longer)
Thread Lift vs Other Non-Surgical Options
vs HIFU: Thread lift provides more dramatic, immediate lift. HIFU provides gradual tightening over months. They can be combined effectively.
vs Fillers: Fillers add volume (indirect lift). Threads physically reposition tissue (direct lift). Different mechanisms, complementary results.
vs Facelift surgery: Surgery provides definitive, long-lasting lift. Threads provide temporary, subtler lift with no surgical recovery. Thread lift is for those who aren't ready for (or don't need) surgery.
Cost at Gomti Clinic

- Neck: ₹25,000-₹40,000
Frequently Asked Questions
Can threads migrate or become visible under the skin?
With proper technique, no. This risk exists with inexperienced practitioners who place threads too superficially. At Gomti Clinic, threads are placed at the correct tissue depth — deep enough to provide lift without visibility or palpability.
What if I don't like the result?
The lift is adjustable during the procedure and partially reversible in the first few days. If the result is excessive (rare with Dr. Ankita's conservative approach), gentle massage can redistribute tension. The threads dissolve over 6-8 months regardless, so the effect is inherently temporary.
