From Varanasi training rooms to Vishnupuri's Church Road — the story of how Gomti Clinic came to be.
Dr. Ankita Kumari began her medical journey at the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University — one of India's most competitive medical programs. During her MBBS years in Varanasi, she was exposed to a massive volume of dermatological cases in BHU's OPDs, where patients travelled from across eastern UP, Bihar, and Jharkhand for treatment they couldn't find closer to home.
Dr. Ankita pursued her MD in Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy at the same institution. The three years of residency included managing complex conditions — chronic psoriasis, autoimmune blistering disorders, drug reaction cases, severe acne scarring, and vitiligo cases that had been mismanaged for years. She also trained in procedural dermatology: chemical peels, dermabrasion, PRP therapy, and laser-assisted treatments.
During this period, she noticed a pattern that would later shape Gomti Clinic: many patients arriving at BHU had been overtreated at private clinics in cities like Lucknow, Allahabad, and Gorakhpur — put on unnecessary steroid creams, sold expensive but inappropriate laser packages, or given zero follow-up after procedures.
After completing her MD, Dr. Ankita practiced at established dermatology setups, refining her skills in aesthetic procedures — Botox, dermal fillers, laser hair removal, and fractional CO2 for scars. She also deepened her experience with Lucknow-specific patient concerns: hard water-related hair damage, monsoon fungal infections, and the melasma patterns she saw repeatedly in women from UP's sun-exposed regions.
Gomti Clinic launched at 532C/260A, Church Road, Vishnupuri, Lucknow with a clear operating philosophy:
The location was chosen strategically: Church Road is easily accessible from Aliganj, Kapoorthala, Mahanagar, Gomti Nagar, and Indira Nagar — putting the clinic within a 15–20 minute drive for most of Lucknow's central and north-western neighborhoods.
Within weeks of opening, Gomti Clinic began receiving patients from beyond its immediate neighborhood — people from Hazratganj, Vikas Nagar, Rajajipuram, and even patients in Barabanki and Sitapur districts who found the clinic through word-of-mouth referrals. The clinic now manages a growing caseload across acne, hair loss, pigmentation, laser procedures, and anti-aging treatments.
